Profiles for versatile applications
The profiles from norelem are variously shaped standard parts that are mainly used in structural and construction applications. The product range comprises 12 different products made from aluminium or grey cast iron.
Alu profiles are structural elements made from aluminium. Aluminium profiles are characterised by their lightness, corrosion resistance and high strength. They are widely used in a variety of applications, including construction, aviation, transport and the automotive industry. Aluminium profiles come in various shapes and sizes to meet the specific requirements of a project. They offer versatility and, due to their excellent machinability are ideal for the production of complex structures and designs.
Grey cast iron profiles, on the other hand, are made from cast iron. The material is characterised by its good ability to be cast, wear resistance and dampening properties. Due to their high strength and rigidity, these standard parts are well suited for components that have to withstand high loads. Due to their vibration damping properties, grey cast iron profiles are also frequently used in applications where vibrations need to be reduced, such as machine beds or engine blocks.
The standard parts play a decisive role in construction and are indispensable components in a wide range of applications. Their importance arises from a number of reasons, as these standard parts serve as load-bearing elements in the construction of buildings, bridges, machines and other structures. They provide stability and strength to support loads and stabilise structures.
Profiles are available in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials, enabling them to be quickly adapted to different construction requirements. They can be manufactured linear, curved or in complex shapes, enabling the realisation of a wide variety of designs.
In addition to versatility, design and stability, the following aspects should also be considered:
- They are effective components for the even distribution of loads. They can be designed to absorb and transmit vertical, horizontal or oblique forces, which is critical to the structural integrity and safety of structures.
- In particular, standard parts made of light metals such as aluminium offer high strength combined with low weight. This enables weight savings in the design, which is particularly advantageous for means of transport such as aircraft, automobiles and trains.
- They can be supplied in prefabricated formats and are therefore often easy to handle and assemble. This contributes to the efficiency of structural and construction projects and enables faster construction times.
Product diversity - aluminium and grey cast iron profiles
As already mentioned, the norelem product range consists of 12 products made from aluminium and grey cast iron. They are available in different widths, heights, lengths and designs. You can use the filter function to specify your requirements and obtain the appropriate standard part!
The range basically consists of the following types:
- H-profiles
- Hollow profiles
- V-blocks
- T-profiles
- U-profiles
The following products should be emphasised:
The range includes three different types of L-profiles. Two of them are machined on all sides and made of grey cast iron and aluminium. These are equal and unequal L-profiles. If you need an exceptionally robust standard part, the L-profile with reinforcing ribs meets the requirements. The 150 mm and 200 mm versions only have one reinforcing rib. The L-profiles in lengths of 300 mm and 400 mm have two reinforcing ribs.
In addition to the L-profiles, the angle profiles should also be highlighted separately. In the norelem range there is a 60° grey cast iron angle profile and a 45°. The size of the angle indicates how the two sides of the profile relate to each other.
Selecting the right profile for your project
When selecting a suitable profile for a particular application, there are some important factors to consider. Here are some tips for choosing the appropriate profile:
- First clarify the specific requirements for your application.
- What loads must the standard part bear?
- What environmental conditions will it be exposed to, e.g. corrosion or high temperatures?
- Consider the dimensions and size of the part to ensure that it can withstand the required loads and meets the space requirements.
- Determine the appropriate profile type based on these requirements.
Due to their specific shapes and designs, the various profiles from norelem offer versatile solutions for the challenges in different industries. Their applications range from structural beams to panelling and frame constructions, depending on the requirements of a particular project or product.
L-profiles
The L-profile is a metal structure in the form of a right angle, which is distinguished by its characteristic L-shape. L-profiles can be used to cover edges, to construct boundaries or to realise corrosion-resistant fixtures. L-profiles are used both for load-bearing structures and for panelling. Their versatility makes them a popular choice for architectural and construction projects.
H-profiles
H-profiles are used as beams in construction and engineering projects. The H-profile carries loads or stabilises structures. H-profiles are particularly effective for horizontal loads. This is why they are used in a wide range of applications such as bridges, buildings and other structures. The shape of the H-profile enables an efficient distribution of forces and simultaneously offers a high load-bearing capacity.
U-profiles
The U-profile has roughly the shape of the letter ‘U’ and is often referred to as a channel profile. U-profiles are used in various industries, including construction, automotive and furniture manufacturing. They can be used as panelling, beams or frames. The open structure of the profile makes them light yet robust, which contributes to their popularity in a wide range of applications.
T-profiles
A T-profile is mainly used as a load-bearing or connecting element in construction and engineering projects. T-profiles offer good load distribution in the vertical plane. T-profiles are therefore often used in load-bearing structures such as columns and beams. Their shape enables efficient utilisation of the material, resulting in a cost-effective solution in various construction projects. The T-profile resembles in cross-section the letter ‘T’.
Hollow profiles
A hollow profile is hollow inside, In general, a hollow profile is defined by an outer shell that encloses an empty space. One advantage of hollow profiles is that they weigh less than solid bodies, but still have high rigidity and strength. They are used in a wide range of applications:
- Construction industry for load-bearing structures such as columns and frames
- Automotive industry for chassis and body parts
- Aerospace industry for lightweight structures
- Other areas where a combination of stability and weight saving is required.
V-blocks
A V-block is a structural element with a V-shaped groove along its length. The V-block is used in the construction industry and in mechanical engineering. V-blocks have rectangular cross-section and are available made from aluminium or grey cast iron. They are valued for their high stability and strength, especially against flexural loads. The blocks are used to support loads, stabilise structures and improve the overall structural integrity of constructions. V-blockscan be used as beams or struts in building structures.
45° or 60° angle profiles
Angle profiles have sides set at an acute angle of 90°. Both sides have the same length. They offer an effective method of constructing structures at an angle and provide stability. Angle profiles are used in the construction industry for frames, panelling and reinforcements.
